We live near the beach with our border collie, who has soft teeth, so we wanted something that could float and not hurt her mouth when she does her amazing airborne catches. This disc exceeds all expectations. It's flexible foam, so even our lab can play with it and not hurt it. It can take teeth marks and have the center ripped out (thanks to a friend's boxer) and it still flies and floats. The raised lip makes it easy to pick up and even children can throw it with relative ease. It's our border's favorite toy by far, so we have to hide it when play time is over or we'd never get any rest.
